Jack Henry Bouckley
6th April 1919 - 19th June 2013
It is with sadness and fond memories that we reported the passing of Jack Bouckley in 2013 – a stalwart member of the group for over 25 years. Jack was renowned internationally for his expertise as a Pteridologist and served as Vice-President and Honorary Life Vice-President of the B.P.S. He was a regular contributor to this newsletter on subjects as diverse as frogs, toads, thunder worms, ferns, tree diseases and dragonflies. It only seems fitting that we should honour his memory by reproducing the article he wrote for us in 2009 on the subject closest to his heart – his fascination with ferns.
