Grove Academy – working near Willow Wood
The student team put up four trial bird nesting boxes last year and now was the time to check how successful they had been. We cleaned out the bird boxes around the ponds this January and discovered that we had a one out of four occupancy rate last nesting season in the box on the great oak tree near the pond. The nesting materials were interesting - a bottom layer of fine moss, overlaid with shredded reedmace leaves and tastefully framed with red tennis ball fluff.
