The Public Enquiry into proposals for a Bilton to Ripley Bridleway was completed earlier this year and the Inspector has found in favour of the route. It will take some months to finalise technical details and resolve compensation issues but, hopefully, construction will be under way soon. The route will enable public access for pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair users and horse riders from Bilton Lane over the Nidd Viaduct along the old Ripon railway line; turning left along the former Pateley Bridge railway line towards Killinghall Bridge; ultimately reaching Ripley Castle. Existing links such as Hollins Lane, Ripley will take the more adventurous on to Birstwith and upper Nidderdale.
